It is on plays like that.

In my maturity I have gotten really good at resisting the temptation to judge a person on their appearance, but Ryan Day looks like an AI rendering of the input "douchebag bond villain with sharpie beard clown bitch"

He looks like General Zod from Superman. I wonder if he's ever told one of his interns to "kneel before Ryan".

No, it isn't.

My point is that it's subjective, same as it's always been.

Thanks for helping me make it.

called incorrectly all the time, right?

Calls on the field are very hard to make. Calls in the booth are easier to make. Far better to get such a big penalty correct via replay than to let bad calls stand.

Balance and all that.

It should be the call on the field, unless there's no debate. Think they even have a term for it.

This goes for all calls then, right?

Replay reduces the subjectivity.

Sure is in tackle football. Never seen a clean hit not be allowed. There is no rule against clean hits on eligible wrs.

Not all, but a lot. Like targeting.

And replay doesn't reduce that on those subjective calls. If anything, it just adds another source of subjectivity.

You should know better. Georgia was called for it against Oregon.

If the call on the field is wrong, it’s better to correct the mistake.

Another source with a much better view, and thus less subjectivity

That is not considered a clean hit, so it is irrelevant to the point. Can’t lift the opponent up like that. Very dangerous play.

FFS, let's consolidate this nonsense.

quote:

If the call on the field is wrong, it’s better to correct the mistake.

If the call on the field is objectively wrong, it’s better to correct the mistake.

Another source with a much better view, and thus less subjectivity

Nope.

You could argue that there's potential for additional data, but not less subjectivity.

Can't hit a defenseless player high. Very dangerous play.

If helmet to helmet or not is objective.

Replay makes it easier to determine. Hi def, slow mo, multiple angles.

The rule makers say You can hit a player on the shoulder with your shoulder.

Helmet to helmet isn't the only indicator.

It also isn't always objective.

They've also said they want to eliminate dangerous hits that injure players. Things like concussions.
