OM does not have to do anything. But i think you would agree that the fans of both schools would rather see a USM/OM or USM/MSU game rather than see a OM/FCS game or a MSU/FCS game.

USM won't play in Oxford ONLY unless we throw ungodly amounts of money at them........and even then I doubt they would except.

Last i heard USM either wanted a 2 for one thing or a game in Oxford and a game in Jackson.

State is playing Jackson State in a week. Delta State arse raped JSU two years ago. Delta is D2. MSU has no business playing Jackson State.

We will never play USM in football. We have nothing to gain by playing them.

Never again you meant, right? Because when they started owning your arse you quit playing them.

You have nothing to gain by playing N. Arizona or Southeast LA or Memphis either, but you're not scared you'll lose.

Anybody whose excuse is that they have nothing to gain means they're frickING SCARED. Your AD has said that he won't play USM because the rivalry is too intense. WHAT A frickING JOKE.

USM wants a 1-1 with us.

But i agree with you though that I'd much rather see us play USM in Oxford than a FCS opponent.

Im not trying to flame OM or anything like that i just want to see the state teams play. I think it could be a huge deal here in MS.

Ole Miss and State should stop being such pansies and start playing Southern Miss again. Same with Alabama and Auburn not playing UAB or Troy. It'd be one thing if either of you had some rugged OOC schedule but you don't. For some of the dog arse teams you schedule to skip over some in-state team is just nuts.

I love the fact that Ole Miss will go play at Memphis and State will go to Houston and La Tech but yet will not agree to play Southern. I have never understood that.

+1 . Maybe they still shudder about those arse whippings Southern gave them in the '70's and 80's.

90's would have been worse IMO

This decade would have been closer but i still think USM gets them more times than not.

so Ole Miss playing a road game at ARKANSAS STATE makes more sense than a home game vs Southern Miss ?

I read in an interview last year in the Daily Journal that Byrne hasn't warmed up to the idea of playing them. Both MSU and Ole Miss in the past have said they will turn down a bowl that is against USM>

A bowl game? Why? Why do we 100% refuse to play them?

It's been pulled from the Clarionledger's website, but if you google:

Khayat says the crowds were mean-spirited, as well, telling the Hattiesburg newspaper the USM-Ole Miss rivalry "wasn't a healthy environment."

You'll see that it was in an article on 9/9/08.

Guess USM will have to drop Ole Miss from their baseball schedule since USM has nothing to gain from playing a team that can't make it to Omaha.

Does anyone have a legit reason why we should? I don't see any tangible benefits...
