UNC skating over legitimately fake classes just because they were “offered to everyone”.

The irony here is UNC is a very highly regarded public university in academic circles and they are very proud of that fact yet risked that reputation with a phony department created to keep athletes eligible. But they look down their nose at the SEC as football factories with dubious academics.

Trying living in the upstate of S.C. not far from Charlotte and putting up UNC people all the time. Very arrogant people.

Here’s the deal: UNC got off because when the NCAA tried to punish them, UNC lawyered up and used the loophole that since the fake courses were offered to everyone and not just athletes, it wasn’t extra benefits and therefore it was an academic matter and not an athletics matter and the NCAA had no jurisdiction to punish the school over academics.

The way to fight the NCAA has been shown over and over: do NOT cooperate despite what they tell you. Lawyer up, clam up and make them do all the work to prove anything and everything.

Lastly, I’m no Missouri fan by any means but this is just more bull shite by the governing body over college athletics. It is a corrupt, obsolete institution that needs to be dissolved and replaced or at least the P5 schools should break away and tell them to frick off.

And before you go laughing at Missou, there but by the grace of God, goes your school. There’s not one among us who couldn’t have a tutor or other support staff go rogue and throw the school under the bus. We’re with you today, Missou.

The thing is, UNC didn't really "offer" the fake classes to everyone, and the NCAA knows this. According to the findings, over some 18 years of the fake classes, around 3,100 UNC students took those classes, with it being 50-50 UNC student-athletes and non-athletic students.

But every one of the those 18 years, there have been some 600 UNC student-athletes enrolled at UNC, and some 18,000 total undergraduate students enrolled. And the vast majority of the UNC student-athletes who took the fake classes were from UNC's highest-revenue generating sports: MBB and CFB.

Imagine that UNC had this free course opened to the entire undergraduate student body: the vast majority are not on scholarship, or any scholarship or student loan they are receiving, requires a minimum GPA to maintain it. Many students work part-time, even full-time. They help pay for their tuition, books and supplies, food and transportation. They have to squeeze in a full-time course load with working, and many struggle with this.

So here's some easy class that gives essentially free "A"s, with zero class time, or study time needed, so it doesn't take away from allocated time for other classes. No books or supplies are needed, so it doesn't hit the wallet. Just turn in a simply one-sheet paper, and you get your free "A" to help bolster your GPA.

The fake classes would be loaded up with so many non-athletic students, that there'd be no room left for student-athletes.

But per the findings of the investigation, the fake classes were coordinated almost entirely by administration from the UNC athletic department. The UNC AD set everything up with the professor and that secretary, set up non-athletic students from the student-body. They set it all up. The regular faculty would have balked at the idea of a fake class, if they truly knew about it, and in fact several members did protest it when it came out. It was going on for 18 years, and only was stopped because it got found out.

The SEC shouldn't allow the NCAA to jizz on Mizz like this. We should start a revolution to create a NEW NCAA that does it the right way, even if it would mean banning Alabama from collegiate athletics forever....
