No one gives a shite about the Olympics outside of every 4 years. And even less care now as the blatant corruption involved gets covered more and more.
If you had said soccer, you could have made a case. 9 out of 10 people on the street couldn't tell you even 5% of the American athletes. Bet you more than that know Bama won another title last year.

Auburn has always had those wins that are never forgotten against us.
An Ark fan stated, after one of their wins vs a Shula Bama team, that "a win vs Alabama, even when they were down, was one of the sweetest feelings in all of sport".
During 70 of the last 99 years Bama has been coached by a coach with an 80%+ winning %. That's 5 coaches: Wade (8 years), Thomas (15), Bryant (25), Stallings (7), Saban (15). The rest of the SEC combined has 3: Neyland, Spurrier at UF, Meyer. The other 25 years, except for the 3 Whitworth years, Bama had a 62% record, won 3 SEC titles and was ranked in the top 17 in the final AP poll 12 of those 25 years, including 7 times in the top 11. That includes DuBose's and Shula's records, both being barely above .500.

ou wouldn’t understand. Bama Athletics might be a big deal in AL but Auburn, Florida, and UGA Olympic athletes reach global audiences across the nation… and in Europe, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, Canada, etc…
Oh, please, soccer fans from South America and Africa were chanting "we want Bama" during the previous Olympics. It has essentially become an idiom transcending college football and football in general. It has come to mean "we are ready for the big time". Alabama's name dwarf's Auburn's. Only a few AU fans like yourself would even try to dispute that. Even NFL fans have done it a time or two.

Yes, people residing in SEC county, Texas, and partially Big10 country, that’s it.
Nobody really follows College FB in the big cities, esp NYC, L.A., etc. Many more people know Michael Phelps, Simone Biles, Usain Bolt rather than Nick Saban. This is especially the case at the global stage. Younger (female) generations living in major metro areas in the Northeast and along the West Coast are more familiar with the next wave of Olympic medalists such as Sunisa Lee (Auburn), Jade Carey (Oregon St), Jordan Chiles (UCLA), Lily Jacoby (Texas) rather than Crimson Tide Football. These medalists go to events with pop stars, have millions of IG followers and are featured on major magazine covers. NIL & Social media is going to level the playing field for the top Olympic medalists and these athletes are more likely to stay in college now because of NIL. They introduce massive numbers of loyal and casual followers to your program, reach markets and audiences College FB could never reach. It’s complementary to Football and Basketball.
Ideally, you want both, bigtime Football/Basketball and Olympic gold medalists.
