He's 70.

There's nothing wrong with an aged coach if he's still sharp (ex. - Saban!). But that just means that LSU would have to repeat the process in the not too distant future.

Can you imagine Pete and his family leaving the west coast by choice? They would have nothing to gain and Pete is 70 years old, haha.That's their home.

Man, these decent coaches are getting old quick....!

Carroll is currently semi-retired with his current situation. He has two national championships and a Super Bowl title. There’s nothing left for him to accomplish.
