You are simply swapping weeks of not playing because you are playing in the conference championship game while others sit at home.
Conference championship games need to go away.
Thank you for your attention to this reminder. Someone will still bring it up later in the season.
Edit to add: you won’t get a home playoff game either

and in week 1 of hte playoffs others are playing while you're sitting at home.
I didn't realize this was a thing people struggled with.
From a UGA perspective I'll be honest...I wouldn't hate missing the SECCG and finishing 5th and getting a home playoff game against some scrub to knock the rust off, considering hwo our last 2 playoffs have gone. That's how I'd think otherwise....but with this being the last year of the SECCG...man it'd be sweet to go out as 3 time in a row winners to end it.

If you lose the SECCG you may well play in that game and then 2 weeks later be traveling for a road game
If you win that game, you are getting a technical "bye" and in theory have an easier road to winning a national title

I won't argue this much

Count the total number of games it takes to win the ‘ship, non believers

For example, Indiana played 16 games last year, including conference championship. Miami played 16 games, without conference championship.
I don’t care enough about the 24 team scenario to see if it truly rewards conference champions with a legitimate bye, or not. It’s too many teams and will be too many uninteresting to bad games for viewers.
