ehh the image people have that everyone that goes here are rednecks is simply not true at all
I know and hell I'm a country boy myself and I don't see it as a bad thing.
But many people see it as a negative and perceive State to be "redneck" much like some perceive OM to be "racist".

Like a boss.
One of the all-around best looking girls I've ever dated goes to State.

???? Sorry...doesn't compute.
My uncle Rex was avid Moo State fan...loved to fish /hunt/farm.
He told me back in the late 1950s or early sixties that the two main differences between the two schools was that Moo State students went on to work hard in agriculture and Ole Miss had shysters and carpet baggers (his words...not mine).

Truth.
I know farmers that have way more money than a good number of doctors/lawyers...they just don't look it because they drive z71 pickups and wear jeans with a columbia shirt rather than drive a BMW and wear a suit and tie.

Can't believe people fell for this.

First time poster, lifelong MSU fan, but spent my freshman year at Ole Miss.
I agree with you on some of your assessment concerning the two schools. Except that State has a very underrated campus and I like the fact that it's spacious. Ole Miss is pretty, but I wouldn't rank in the top 20 nationwide. Both schools are rural. Contrary to popular ignorance, Starkville is not more isolated than Oxford. Oxford sits kinda close to an interstate, yet Starkville is next to a similar sized town, and an airport with daily airline service. People in Auburn,Tuscaloosa, and Oxford have to drive out of town to catch a commercial flight. Ole Miss has more pretty girls, mainly because they have more female students. The ratios are better at Ole Miss and they are easy and talented, but by and large, not someone your grandmother would be proud for you to marry. Most of the State grads I know are still married, most of the Ole Miss people I know, are not. Ole Miss has more football tradition, State has had better baseball and basketball over the decades..yada yada yada.
Football success will be cyclical with both schools, has been for a long time and I believe this will continue.
