As many great players as have come through Bama's program, the closest player to win it, of all people was David Palmer(?) coming in third.

Wrong. Johnny Musso came in second to that dude from Cornell...ol' whatzisname.

Bammers really don't have a lot of room for yapping here.

Nor does anybody else.

I'll be glad when we get a playoff system one day.

Definitely agree with that. I hate you guys, but ya'll got screwed in '04. If LSU gets in with 2 losses to Kentucky and Arkansas, but a previously undeafeted SEC gets left out, the system is flawed.

I blame ESPN for ruining the Heisman. The criteria in which it is awarded changes from season to season. As an example, as much as I hated that Peyton Manning, he was royaly screwed by ESPN.
ESPN pimped woodson from day 1 only because a Defensive player has never won the throphy. Any othet year, Mannings walks away with the throphy. Besides who was the last heisman winner that went on to the NFL and actually had a great career?

I have no problem that Alabama has never had a Heisman winner. I would certainly like to see one some day, no doubt, but its far more important to compete for conference and national titles.

Heismans are nice, but I'd take a team award over an individual award any day.

Alabama has done ok without superstar players over the years.
