I think you're confusing AAC with ACC

Nope. The AAC, formerly known as the Big East, is a power 5 conference.

Then why wasn't the AAC winner in a NY6 bowl?

Wrong. Under the playoff system the power 5 conferences are the Big Ten, SEC, ACC, Big 12, Pac 12

1. ACC
2. B1G
3. Big 12
4. Pac-12
5. SEC
The Big East had an auto-bid in the BCS (somehow), but it isn't a P5 conference. It's a G5 conference. And the Big East doesn't even exist anymore, so any former high tier status doesn't count.

That would make it 6

Because they more than held their own in BCS bowls?

There is a lot of fail going on from multiple sides in this thread.
But I ask. What does it matter if we play a P5 school this year?

Again, they did so somehow, lol.
Their being included into BCS Bowls wasn't due to the fact that they were already playing well in BCS Bowls. They just played their Bowls really well for some reason.

Probably because most of times they cared a lot more than about that game than the team they were playing against
Ex. Florida vs Louisville Sugar Bowl

I thought about saying this, and it's probably true. Many SEC BCS teams had just narrowly missed out on playing for the NC, so they only competed half-heartedly. But at the same time, this is overused and kind of a cop-out.
