FWIW....seriously, I think it sucks...and if I was an Ole Miss fan, I'd vote for no mascot. The name "OLE MISS" says enough. I can only imagine what it would be like if LSU couldn't have a Tiger, costume and Mike as mascots. I guess it's alot easier to tell PETA to frick off than it is the president of a university.
Can you imagine a freaking landshark roaming the sidelines in Tiger Stadium? How long do you think that would last? I think the student section popped ELLIS HUGH...didnt they?
What would have happened had the administration decided that they would not bury Col Reb? Would Ole Miss be an all wite team by now? I DOUBT IT!

What sucks is the way the administration worded the question "do you want a student led effort on finding a new mascot?" the problem is that if everyone said no then the administration would do it for us eventually.

....one of our players was toting around the fiber-board(figures...damned coonasses) base and another guy was carrying around the vahjayjay flower.

Colonel Reb is dead and gone. A lot of people had a problem with Colonel Reb. I'm not saying the majority of people did, but some did - and it's all about perspective and how each person views it.
We are going PC with this mascot thing to shut everyone up and we need the marketing dollars.

OK who exactly had a problem with Col. Reb? I'm just curious. I know a HUGE number of Ole Miss people, and no one I know had a problem with Col. Reb Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I've yet to meet anyone that did. Faculty, administration, who exactly?
