That's not something most people would brag about, but I suppose at Ole Miss there aren't many outlets for pride. Most universities throughout the country (particularly the prestigious ones) don't have Honors Colleges. This would be the equivalent of Auburn saying they had a "Top 5 Bovine Sciences Program," which they probably do. But considering maybe, say, 8 schools have such a program, that doesn't equate to some sort of national reputation for excellence.

TONS of public schools have honors colleges. Off of the top of my head + a very quick Google search I can come up with Ole Miss, State, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Penn State, Purdue, Florida, Auburn, yadda yadda yadda.

So, yeah, you're wrong. And also, our program wasn't listed as "3rd best behind Penn State and Maryland." It was in an article on the best public Honors Colleges published in 2005 which said the Ole Miss program was the best alongside Penn State and Arizona State.

With the exception of Vandy, they really all are close to the same. By US News rankings nationally-

17 - Vandy
47 - UF
58 - UGA
88 - AU
96 - UA
106 - UT
110 - USCe
128 - ARK
128 - UK
128 - LSU
Unranked/Tier3 - MI ST
Unranked/Tier 3 - OM

Looking at how selective each school is-
Vandy - 25% of applicants admitted
UF - 41%
UGA - 55%
MI ST - 57%
ARK - 58%
USCe - 59%
UA - 60%
AU - 71%
UT - 71%
LSU - 74%
UK - 77%
OM - 83%

In reality, if you plan on working and living in the region after you graduate, most employers will look at degrees from all the SEC schools pretty much the same.

Hell, I beat out a girl with a degree from Vandy for my job.

Really, none of us are Harvard and Yale, so who cares.

Plus, us Bama gals are WAY snobbier than those Ole Miss bitches anyway.

This is true, though I only know one Ole Miss woman for every fifty Bama ones.

My dad graduated from Ole Miss a long time ago. I don't think he was necessarily a snob in that regard...but he definitely was possessed with something about it...whatever you want to call it.

What does a sample car tag have to do with school?

I guess the point is, I bet we all know really smart and exceptional people at all our schools and really STUPID people at all our schools.

And seeing as how the rest of the country looks down on all of us and stereotypes us as ignorant and uneducated, it would behoove all of us to sing the praises of a southern upbringing and education.

And we all know our schools beat the hell out out the yankee and west coast schools when it come to the really important things.

Slamming parties and beautiful women.

And, might I add, not having to go deep into debt for your education. When I tell people up here that I essentially didn't pay a dime for school because it's so cheap to begin with and they hand out scholarship money like condoms I immediately get a "well, damn, I should have gone to a public school" type of response.

You can have your fancy degree. I've got fatass pockets full of cash.

Ole Miss' is already at 30, loser.

I really don't care if you were accepted into Vanderbilt, but I am disappointed in their admissions counselors for apparently losing their touch.

You see, you divert into an ad hominem attack because I refuted your argument. The ironic part, however, is that your assertion was totally incorrect.

The following was taken from Ole Miss' Honors College website...

quote:

Usually, a successful applicant will have a minimum ACT of 28

Next time you make a falsified claim, at least make sure the person you make it to won't call you out on it.

You, sir, are a loser and a liar.

Typical Ole Miss frat boy response.

Ive had a good time here, wouldnt trade this experience for what any other college had to offer. Booze filled weekends (weeknights in my earlier years) and beautiful women all around this town. Not bad IMO. Its a shame its over in Dec

It means Ole Miss sucks at everything in his opinion. So we should cancel all athletics and shut the school down.
