Me and some buddies are making the trip to Oxford this week. We are staying in Holly Springs (35 miles north of Oxford) and wanted to know what to do Friday night.

We also wanted to know the campus rules regarding alcohol, open flames, parking, etc. Thanks for all the help! Looking forward to one of the best tailgating venues in the nation

Rule regarding booze: keep it in a cup. Put a lock on your cooler. Don't have it out in the open (a bottle of bourbon on your tailgate's table, for example).

Rule regarding open flames: none in the Grove or Circle unless on the outer edge of the Grove along University Ave. Elsewhere it's a-ok.

Parking: I dunno. Just pay up and you'll be fine.

No propane in the Grove. (BTW, the actual "Grove" is only the part surrounded by the roads and walkway by the stage). Outside the grove, pretty much anything goes.

Only alcohol rules are don't have the beer cans/liquor bottles out in the open. Poor them into a cup and throw them away.

As far as parking, coming from Holly Springs will be easy for you. Get off on the Molly Barr exit and go down a few miles. IIRC, you'll go through one stop sign close to the HWY and another one a few miles down the road. After that second one, you'll come across a Rec center on your left(just past a police station to your right. Park there and it's something like $4-5 shuttle round trip. They drop you off and pick you up literally right next to the Northeast side of the stadium. But that lot is also somewhat walking distance from campus if nothing else. Just can't beat a shuttle trip right after the game to your car. And this lot is north of campus so you'll avoid the majority of traffic if you're going to Holly Springs.

FYI the grove is way over rated.

Arkansas fans only see the Grove for 11:30am games. Of course it's going to suck. everyone is still hungover.

that being said, there probably won't be nearly as many people in the Grove this Saturday like there normally is for an LSU/OM game. We most definitely lost the party this past Saturday.

I've never thought about it, but that's definitely right. I can't remember the last time we played Arkansas at home for a non 11:30 kickoff.

The Grove during an early kickoff is apples to the oranges of the Grove during a late kickoff.

whatever you do, don't cook anything. they will look down upon you. you need to do like they do and go to walmart and pick up a chicken platter. it's about 40 bucks.

Yet another myth perpetuated by LSU fans.

Ole Miss' WalMart chicken platters is our version of piss bombs, I guess.

yes.....that's exactly what you need to do.

fwiw......my group's menu goes as follows for this Saturday.

Andouille sammiches for breakfast

Boiled shrimp(Not bought from grocery store)
Boudin
2-day simmered gumbo
Red beans and rice
mini crawfish-cakes
and god knows what other sides. All will be cooked there but the Gumbo.

Now......go throw some piss-balloons, dickhead.

No open flame in the actual grove, but there are plenty of other places on campus where people grill out.

And with alcohol, you can actually have liquor out in the open. In fact you can walk around drinking straight from a 5th, but you can't have beer in the open, it has to be in a cup.

crazy, I know
