Scholly limits help teams to catch up.

How long has scholarships limits been in play?

Do not see many teams catching up to the SEC.

One thing I've learned from playing and following Oklahoma every year is never count them out. Oklahoma will be just fine they may struggle at first but they'll be fine in the end. Hookem it’s a new day for both of youz guys. You could easily turn in to Kentucky or Miss St within this juggernaut. There’s no layups and injuries will test your depth like never before. Should be fun to watch.

The injuries issue is something that isn’t mentioned much but it’s such a huge deal. I don’t remember A&M being crushed by injuries some years in the Big 12 like they have in the SEC. It’s very possible to lose all QBs in a single season and lose multiple WRs and RBs. You can quickly go from good to bad as injuries pile up and then you get crushed by good team.

Depth is by far and away the most important issue.

I think its fair to say fans know its easier for a team to slow down offense when given 4-5 weeks to prepare. Once in routine conf play year after year that extra prep time goes away as week to week games require focus on that weeks game.

This is not why Oklahoma has come up short in the postseason for the last 20 years.

My main point is it works 2 ways. LSU will have to come to Norman. Adding OU/TX is not like adding Vandy type teams. There are 2 more seats at the table and that makes things harder for every team not just OU/TX.

No, but you won’t need to be an undefeated or 1 loss team to make the playoff going forward, either. So it’s not that big a deal, even if and when we go to 9 games. As it stands we dropped Auburn for OU in 2024 which is basically a wash.

FYI I have been to Norman and while it’s a good college football environment pagentrywise, it’s not a great home field advantage like you see regularly in the SEC. So that we “have” to come there really isn’t all that big a deal. OU fans are way too polite and worried about being classy. Maybe being in a a real conference will toughen you up though.
