So you think Kiffin should've gotten a better job? Cuz he's more qualified than Ogre.. LSU is the only school stupid enough to make this hire

Muschamp - nothing before his first HC job at Florida
Smart - nothing before he was hired at UGA (and he replaced a coach that had a comparable resume to Miles)
Mark Stoops - nothing before being hired at Kentucky
Dan Mullen - nothing before being hired at State
Barry Odom - nothing before being hired at Missouri
Derek Mason - nothing before being hired at Vandy.
These guys were all very successful coordinators, fully specializing in offense or defense. I wouldn't call that "nothing." They were much more successful than Orgeron before getting hired.

You do realize that the title, "associate head coach" means pretty much nothing, right? Typically a title given to guys you want to keep around but don't quite trust to be a coordinator.

what plays do head coaches call? what is the duty of a head coach?

Why do that to yourself?

Hopefully a HC fully specializes in offense or defense so he isn't so dependent on his assistants like O.
Or he doesn't need to fully specialize in anything if he can prove his HC skills at a smaller school first, like Urban Meyer, before being trusted with what is supposed to be a Top 5 job.
I would be more comfortable with O if he had a history of winning or producing top defenses as a coordinator. He doesn't.

So what you're saying is you just don't know how Orgeron will do, correct?

Ok, and what plays are HCs expected to call on offense and defense?

I really wish some of you were around here when les miles was hired to replace nick saban and lsu signed a class of 12 players les' first year.
it waas 13, and 5 of them committed after Les was named coach.

He just might. He did pretty well as an interim HC twice. Only so much you can change in mid season.
Dabo scenario is similar. He was a position coach that became interim and was then hired as HC. He struggled some in the early going, but hired good staff, recruited well and is having great success. Not unlike Coach O, his strengths are relationships, recruiting and motivation.
There's really not that much that was broken at LSU and needed fixing. Biggest needs were an effective OC/QB developer and talented QB(s).
It's going to be interesting to see how well Coach O's LSU teams do in the next few years.
