This has as much to do with the Cotton falling down as anything. The collapse of the SWC (it was dying way before it died) was the other half. I personally have been to the Cotton Bowl seven times and I was comfortable in one of them and not too bad in another and froze to death in five of them. None have been recent and I’ve never been in the new digs, but that damage was done and it couldn’t have happened at a worse time. College football was becoming a bigger sport with a lower percentage of diehard fans of the game and alumni and a much higher percentage of sidewalk/t shirt fans. The SWC failed and the venue was not interesting for the people who viewed it more as a vacation and a see and be seen event than a go and celebrate your team event.

My tier rankings are as follows. I think we all agree that the Peach Bowl has the least prestige and the Rose Bowl has the most prestige.

Rose

Orange/Sugar

Fiesta/Cotton

Peach
