For the first 125 years of college football, it was a beauty contest. If you didn't win the Miss America pageant, you could always enter the Miss USA one. We got schools all over the SEC and the nation that have made just such claims. They still think they were the prettiest in all the land to this day.

Let me help you some more. I give you Miss Kentucky 1950.

They have a NC trophy in their athletic facility cause I've seen it. They also have a legitimate right to it. They beat Oklahoma that year ON THE FIELD, and Oklahoma also shares that NC for the year. As far as I'm concerned, if you are the man that beat the man, that settles that.

The reason that doesn't rock my world is that coach Bryant was at Kentucky, not BAMA. Kentucky cares and a lot and who could reasonably blame them? Personally, I also don't care about coach Saban's NC at LSU, well, you know why. Here's what matters to me, regardless of the era of football, coach Bryant and coach Saban both have 6 NCs for the Tide. What others care about is their business.
