I love that episode. George always thinks of a witty comeback too late. The French actually have an expression for this (when you think of a witty retort, but it is too late) - L'esprit d'escalier. That literally translates to "staircase wit," as in - you thought of the right thing to say, but you were already on your way down the stairs.
