The quickest way to get the pandemic over would be for everyone to herd up and get the virus. Kind of like a chicken pox party.
Then everyone gets it, and the entire pandemic is over in a month.
Of course, the risk is higher that more people die that way...in the short term.
Not saying that's what should be done, but if it's about getting it over the quickest, that's how you do it.
Meanwhile, slowing the spread just makes it drag out even longer, and overall kill about the same amount of people minus any strain on the health system. At risk people stay at risk for longer periods of time.
We're all going to get it eventually.
