What level did you play at? I played at a fairly high level and we did indeed do high reps to increase muscle stamina. Granted it was a long time ago, and things, I'm sure have changed a bit, but to say doing high reps does nothing for muscle fatigue is at best ill informed.
Not only does it help with muscle fatigue but it builds muscle.

I wasn't contesting the muscle endurance statement. I was specifically contesting the priority of bench press training for a football player.

Which insinuates if not outright says you do not think muscle endurance is important for football.

Is this what you are saying, or am I misunderstanding you?

Let me clarify what I am saying. I am not arguing that it is a great "event" for the combine. I am not arguing that a player should have his draft position greatly affected by what he does on the bench press. I am saying that it is an indication of upper body strength and muscle endurance, which are important factors for a football player. I suspect we are on the same page, but missing each others points and misunderstanding what we are saying.

I gotta ask you a question about your username. Gustave? Every time I see it, I think Auburn Coach. Where did you get the name from? Seems odd to see an Alabama fan with it.

It's from in an old jrpg. I've been using it as an online alias for a long time. Probably since 2003ish? Predates the Gus Bus

I've seen you on here several times and I always think "Auburn fan", when I see it. My apologies!

Just watched Shaquem Griffin (LB from UCF) knock out 20 reps... not bad for one hand.
