I think we could throw Bednar on Wednesday if we can make it to Wednesday. Might not be a long outing but I bet we try him

They willingly took some players and a coach who were sick

I haven’t read that they were sick prior to traveling to Omaha, but they were definitely sick on Monday at least.

While the NCAA is dumb for not testing then and there, the NC State coach knew the rules and took a risk by not isolating and testing ASAP. Had they caught it before play, it’s likely the vaccinated players at least wouldn’t have been tested and NC State would at least be eligible - albeit disadvantaged.

Had they just encouraged vaccinations to bypass the protocol entirely like other teams did, they may have been in the finals.

It’s sad for the players, but the coach wasn’t making strategic choices and decisions when he knew full well what would happen when the NCAA found positive test results.

Hopefully they did what was best for the team per the rules and took the shot that isn’t a risk to 99.9% of people. Especially healthy young people.

Kinda like covid....99.9 not a risk.

To be fair COVID is more like 99.6% not a risk for death across all age groups. But Hospitalizations is a bit more serious anywhere between 94-96% not a risk for hospitalization. Your MeMaw and Papaw have a 95% chance of surviving COVID so it's clearly a bit tougher on the aging and immune compromised.

Taking the vaccine is actually much less of a risk than 99.9%, but it's hard to quantify a number as small as the actual risk so it's easier to just say 99.9% as opposed to saying. 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999...% safe.

If this statement is true, it is imperative that all Vanderbilt players be tested. I mean, if you truly care about the health of student athletes.

Agreed, I wish they would back it up 2 days so at least both teams would have access to full staffs, then the outcome cannot be questioned.

I assume that means Vandy tested, but it could be read they were cleared after the COVID testing of the other team and they as vaccinated players didn't require a test per protocol.

Only thing out there is Budden's report saying they are "cleared ". Who cleared them? No indication of any testing.

But ESPN reporter Kris Budden reported Saturday night about the Vanderbilt baseball team that "everyone was cleared and able to play on Monday" after Saturday's COVID-19 testing.

It is oddly ambiguous. I have no idea if they were tested or not.

I have no horse in the race, just seems disingenuous to me. It seems that Corbin would want to put this to rest. Could come out and say that all his vaxxed players were tested and they were negative for covid.

No one has done this.

Any chance, can you post the stats on the long term effects of this vaccine? ...long being something other than the "well, I got it in March and feel fine" data?

Of course you can't, but assuming long term negative side affects from a simple MRNA vaccine is silly. Heck, the protein based ones are even less concerning unless you're a nut job antivac type. It must be exhausting to expend the energy it takes to create a world narrative where everything is out to get you.

Yes. But the rules are in black and white.

Thank goodness nobody is coercing people to take the vaccine. It's all being done of their own free will.
That's what you think, isn't it.

Is that really what you want?

And yet the tournament continued. Not only did it continue, but it continued without even testing the other teams to see if they had been exposed.
