Then let me rephrase:

Arkansas was arguably the better cumulative program for 4 fricking decades, until LSU hired Nick Saban.

Better?

No. You're still picking and choosing. You're including your 3 best decades BY FAR, and excluding the two that we won our NCs in (50's and 00's). How is that fair? why is 1961 better than 1958? Why is 1998 better than 2001?

LSU is a top 5 program year in and year out. I'm glad they don't have a top coach though. He benefits greatly from the wealth of talent in state and the reputation that Nick Saban built for him. If Nick Saban was there, no way LSU get's beat by Casey Dick. I understand when we had the best backfield ever in DMAC, Felix, and Hillis but I don't see how we beat yall without them and CD still trying to play QB. Les is an average coach and at one of the best schools for football in the nation.

You're missing the point.

College football is typically measured in decades.

Excepting the current decade, Arkansas was arguably better than your precious tigers for 4 straight decades.

The point is that you arrogant LSU fans quickly forget that just 7 short years ago you were standing eye-to-eye with Arkansas in the college football world. Nick Saban changed that.

The 60's we were the 3rd most successful program.

The 70's we were the 15th.

The 80's we were the 12th.

After the horrible 90's, where we had to reinvent ourselves from top to bottom in a new conference, to include coaches, facilities, recruiting ground, etc.... we sit at 25th overall.

I don't think that is elite but considering our program has never looked stronger than it does in 2009, and we have managed to average winning the West every 4 years since joining the SEC, even when we sucked, well, I like where we stand.

7 years ago we still had more wins, better head to head record, more top 25 finishes, more top 10 finishes, more bowl appearances, more major bowl appearances and more bowl wins.

How exactly were we standing eye to eye?

Well, when you are talking about a hundred years of history and the things that separates two programs is a couple of bowls, wins, etc., you are eye-to-eye.

Whether or not you want to believe that, whatever. It's true.

The SWC was hardly EVER good after the 1950's.

In the 60's, the SWC had a team in the top 10 in every season but 1967, with 3 different schools accounting for 14 top ten finishes in 10 years (Arkansas - 7, texass - 6, SMU - 1). Three national championships were won by the conference (Arkansas - 1964, texass - 1963, texass - 1969). In the 70's, the SWC had a team in the top 10 every season but 1971 and 1974, with 5 different schools accounting for 14 top ten finishes in 10 years (texass - 5, Houston - 4, Arkansas - 3, texass tech - 1, texass A&M - 1). In the first half of the 80's, before violations and investigations castrated the league, the SWC had a team in the top ten every year but 1980, with 4 different schools accounting for 7 top ten finishes in 6 years (SMU - 3, texass - 2, Arkansas - 1, texass A&M - 1).

The champion of the SWC would play in the Cotton Bowl each year. The winner of the Cotton Bowl would be named national champion by at least one organization 10 times from 1960-1979. The Cotton Bowl, the home of the SWC Champion, was unquestionably one of the premier bowl games in America during it's heydey.

Just show me one relevant category that Arkansas was ahead of LSU in 7 years ago. Just one.

And 50 wins is a lot. It's the difference between you and Maryland

I'm not sure how this became Arkansas vs LSU?

LSU is a 10 in my book. But they have a 7 as an HC and every year they become a less daunting opponent and less competitive for a BCSNC.

Why is this? USC is still competing. OSU is still in the mix. Texas is. Florida is.

The answer is that LSU is a Ferrari being driven by a go-kart pro.

I vote that LSU keeps him for years to come.

Thank you.

Just like someone 6'1'' looks eye-to-eye with someone 6'2''.

NO two programs are every exactly the same. But pre 2003, LSU and Arkansas were pretty damn similar.

So Miles being undefeated in bowl games makes him a 7? Would you put a Stoops or Tressel way ahead of him because they get to the NC but lose all the big games. He is a good coach end of story
