You keep naming things that you can do in OTHER cities... cities that aren't Clemson. That's my whole point. Sure, you can do the same things in Clemson that you can do in Columbia. My initial point is that you can do more of it in Columbia.. and for you to think otherwise is just you being a homer.

Bars in Seneca... just stop bro. Reaching for straws. Seriously? You were better off relating your party scene to Greenville.

Yes, my "more to do" heavily refers to bars/restaurants/shopping etc.. because believe it or not, that's what kids are doing outside of class these days, and Columbia offers more of everything I just listed than Clemson... I can already tell you're not a millennial. Don't argue this.

Technically, Columbia has a nearby lake and a river that students use for tubing during the summer.. SC has the Strom (a state of the art fitness center), Columbia has public golf courses, if that's your thing.. and students can use the school's facility if the athletes aren't using it. Downtown Columbia isn't Charleston, but there's a hell of a lot more to do there than "Downtown" Clemson.

Greenville has a petting zoo. Just stop. Not comparable to Riverbanks by a long shot.

Clemson is NOT the best campus in the ACC... the Virginia schools say hi. Blacksburg/Charlottesville > Clemson... I've been to all three, especially Blacksburg.

At Clemson, a frat boy was murdered and they've yet to indict anybody or hell ANYTHING.. it almost seems like a cover up to everybody, including your own students. What's your point talking about crime? Crime happens everywhere. You can do the same things in Clemson that you can do in Columbia, remember? That includes crime.

Nobody thinks Columbia is a paradise. Hell, I was a student at SC and lived in Columbia for almost 5 years.. it's DEFINITELY not. Any former and current student will tell you that.

As far as crime, Columbia can be pretty crappy, especially during the summer... but the entire point of the debate is that there's more to do in Columbia than Clemson. Which is true. One is a CITY for christ sake.. with a metropolitan population of over 700,000.

What you know about Seneca? You just grabbing at straws. Every city has bars.

All you talk about is bars and shopping. How is that doing anything?

My brother went to grad school at Clemson. He prefers Clemson. Va Tech is ncie but not a lot of trees up there and it is super cold. I don't really care for that gothic architecture.

I don't understand people whoh act like Columbia is some kind exciting place. It is ok. But again, Clemson is 17000 students. There are things to do, the same thigns you do in Columbia you can do in Clemson.

Ok, what is it you do in Cola that you can't do in Clemson. Just answer it without counting up number of bars and restaurants, and talking about the zoo. I can play tennis in both cities. I can golf in both. I can go to a lake in both. I go to movies in both. Etc.

Clemson is right at base of mountains. Lot more cool places to go around Clemson than Cola. Who wants to go to the Congaree swamp or that sandhills state park.

Columbia isn't paradise, but it sure is a hell of a lot better than Clemson. Clemson's cool if you're a college kid in your first and second year...after that...waoh it's gotta blow.

Unfortunately for Clemson, it was located 35 miles Southwest.

lol, nobody is talking about living there after college. There isn't much work around there.

Again,. what can't you do, in terms of hobbies, activities, in Clemson that you can do in Columbia? Because you can go to a bar in Clemson. I don't think a zoo is a difference maker. Again, Clemson is close to the mountains, Cola isn't. If you like outside stuff, not sure how you can say CColumbia is better.

Lake Keowee and Jocasse are two of the most pristine lakes in the country.

Seneca sucks and is full of rednecks.. with a WalMart that had more Gamecock stuff than Clemson stuff at the time I visited..

Calm down. I'm just ramming in the fact that Clemson has no bar culture. Young people like bar culture.

You wanna talk numbers too...
Clemson - 17,000 (according to you)
SC - 32,000... one of these numbers is bigger than the other.

Clemson (the city) - 20,000 (when school is in session?)
Columbia - 135,000

**there are LITERALLY more people for you to DO in Columbia..

lol Seneca is full of rich people out on the lake too. It is like every city, people of all different stripes. Seneca has some bars in Ram Cat Alley which you probably didn't know about. I consider Andersonn part of Clemson area too, it has restaurants/bars near 85 and then more in downtown Anderson.

lol how many people do you know in Columbia? You actually can know more people in a smaller town than a big town. In a bigger city or college, you are just around more strangers.

But again, how does more people mean there is more to do? Because I think that at a school with 17000 you can find plenty of people to do stuff with.

I'm not trying to promote Clemson. I always hear SC fans say nothing to do in Clemson in comparison to Cola. Yet I could do all the same things they did in Cola, plus closer to the mountains.

Anderson has decent mall with the stores college kids like, plus Haywood Mall is right up the interstate in Greenville. Who goes shopping that often anyway?

Yeah, and I can do all the same things as Northwestern (Chi) fans, plus closer to the beach.

Offering more (diversity) is something you should look into

good 2 hours from the beach in Cola. I don't care about a beach.

I have lived in Columbia. It is ok city but three isn't anything you can do there that you can't do elsewhere. I'm challenging your paradigm.

The upstate in general is like one big metro. You are not confined to one area of it.

How about this, tell me of an Ethiopian restaurant in Clemson, South Carolina.

It's really not my job to tell you EVERYTHING you can do in Columbia that you can't do in Clemson.. there are calendars of events for that.. people get paid to make those for inquiring minds like yours. Check 'em out. Make their work worthwhile.

The Vista ---> LINK /

5 points ---> LINK /

Main Street/Columbia in general ---> LINK /

St. Pats in 5points ---> LINK /

Columbia has museums, festivals, and even the State Fair (they give out tickets to students in bundles if you're in the right place at the right time)... all things that Clemson students would have to LEAVE Clemson for...

I'm sure Clemson has a similar Calendar of Events, and the outdoor recreation is cool (even though you can do some of that in the Midlands as well).. but my point still stands.

I'm done with this debate

I think you can ride over to Greenville for occasional ethiopan restaurant.

Again, that isn't really doing anything. You can still eat in Clemson, might not be ehtioopian but you can eat something. I was eating at the cafeteria most my meals anyway.

Greenville blows away Columbia, and I like tigertown better than 5 points or the vista.

Main street Columbia sux. Just tall corporate buildings and like 3 restaurants. lol

You have to drive a little more for a variety of restaurants, and shopping, if you live in Clemson. but in terms of things to do, there is no difference.

I believe I was clear by stating that the call of my question was, "tell me of an Ethiopian restaurant in Clemson, South Carolina." Greenville wasn't mentioned. Clemson isn't Greenville. Greenville isn't Clemson.

Hmmm...enlightening.

You're the one that kept boasting numbers and throwing 17,000 out there..

My point was to show that even if you want to talk numbers.. Columbia and SC especially win there.

lol, ok well you are basically saying Georgia Tech fans can only eat at restuarntas right around their college, they can't drive 20-30 minutes in the metro to eat somewhere.

You are imposing an artificial boundary around Clemson. Students have cars. The upstate is one big metro. Clemson is considered like a suburb of Greenville. It is definitely a burb of Anderson. If you live in Clemson u will go to Anderson some.

AGAIN.. WE ARE COMPARING CLEMSON TO COLUMBIA... NOT COLUMBIA TO THE ENTIRE UPSTATE. What part of this do you not understand?

Clemson is in Clemson, SC. Not Greenville, which is 45 minutes away.

The fact that you keep talking about what you can do in other cities not named "Clemson" shows me that my argument is already valid.

lol, well as far as eating out or shopping goes, ANderson is part of Clemson. It is about as far from Columbia to the mall in irmo, for Clemson students to drive to Anderson. I'm assuming the mall is what you are talking about when you say "more to do". lol Because I can play golf in Clemson, tennis, basketball, go to pool, go to gym etc.

the main drag in Anderson is called Clemson Blvd

Clemson is closer to mountains than Columbia is to the beach or mountains. Whitewater rafting right up the road on the Chattooga river, can go hiking in Table Rock, go mountain biking on Isaqueena trail right near Clemson, go boating on hartwell and the other pristine lakes, etc.

Cola is better for metrosexuals who like shopping and wear hair gel. Real men who like being outdoors prefer a Clemson. There is no wrong answer, just a preference.

Another thing you can do in Clemson, walk to the the stadium that is right on campus, rather than drive through an industrial area to go to a stadiiumn right on an interstate. lol

I've said nothing about a mall. In fact, I've only mentioned shopping once.. and ever since, you've been latching onto shopping as if I've been mentioning it the entire time, which isn't true. But still, Columbia (Not Irmo or Lexington) blows away Clemson there.

The Main drag in Anderson is called Clemson Blvd for Thomas Clemson, not Clemson University. Columbia has Clemson Rd as well.. your point?

We would not be having this argument had you not said that there isn't more to do in COLUMBIA than there is to do in CLEMSON... which is a boldfaced lie.

Had you said something to the likes of "There isn't more to do in Columbia than the entire UPSTATE" like you're trying to prove now.. then I would've done a simple and carried on.. but you compared Clemson to Columbia.. NOT Columbia to an ENTIRE region.
