Drink isn't the end all be all. He recruits in the low 20's and hits the portal hard. He's 7-16 vs the top 25. That's not awesome for an $11M dollar coach
I agree. Drink is a good coach, but he's also been a tease. Maybe he can improve and finally start winning some big games at Mizzou. Maybe not. In any case, by no means do I think Drink should be fired. Absolutely not. I think it's silly to fire a good coach because they're close, but not quite reaching the level you want them to reach. I just don't think it would be the End of the World if he leaves for another job.
I think Drink is replaceable. Meaning, it's reasonably possible Mizzou could hire a replacement who is at Drink's level. But there are no guarantees. Mizzou is totally capable of fumbling the hiring of a new HC.
P.S. I think Drink's salary is $9 million, not $11 million. Maybe he renegotiates and gets $11 million this season. Who knows?

SEC Rant is the worst site I have ever seen for not being able to pick out trolling when it happens.

quote:he has a couple of million in incentives which I would have to look up, and like most coaches he also gets paid for all kinds of promotions and extracurriculars so he's pulling down more than 9, but for comparison's sake 9 might be the best number. his base salary also rises by $250k each year
P.S. I think Drink's salary is $9 million, not $11 million.
the point being he's making more than coaches that have achieved more.
and no one is advocating for him to leave. Any time you lose a coach you initially step back, just ask bama. But if he gets poached hopefully they do an even better job on the next hire. Lot's of good coaches out there right now. Some power programs are firing some solid coaches
