I wouldn't go to these two unless you enjoy the stereotypical southern dumb asses.
Copper Top is better than both of those but it does get crowded. It's a good place to hangout with old/young folks. 1831 is next door but it is definitely for the younger crowd.
And Brown's is probably the closest thing to a club you'll find but I wouldn't go till late if that's what you're into. But the up stair at Rounder is damn near club scene.
The Red Shed isn't that bad but I don't go there that much. And the thing about Gallettes; bring a ton of money for cover. Yeah that's right it's that place. And it's not called the Jupiter anymore, but "The Dixie" (yeah I know) I wouldn't suggest it during football season. That's the place people go for cheap beers in the summer. There is also Horny's but I don't think you want to go there.
Now back to Downtown. Around the corner from Catch-22 is a quiet little chill bar called "The Grey Lady." If you're not looking to fall on your face then I suggest going there. It's pretty cool what they have at the top in the loft but I'm not going to give away the surprise. Then there is the Filling Station, yeah just pass it for real.
Other than that all the dining listed is fine. If you miss home and are up for oysters then head to Wintzell's. All the Mexican spots are good. El Rincon (sp) on the strip has a Margarita that will strip the paint off your car... try it.

are there any Lucky Dog stands on the strip?

No but there is the Quik Grill and it's pretty dank.

To help the LSU fans, it wasn't an oversight that Denny's, Waffle House, and Huddle House were omitted from this list.

Same owner. Better than the one in Lake View IMO.
and 1000x better than old Innisfree in Tuscaloosa... that thing was in a hallway. This one is much nicer and newer and spread out

cool thanks. heading up from Hoover that morning. I am totally aware of the cluster frick coming up from Birmingham especially for 2:30 games. I want to get there early, but for this game I honestly cannot pinpoint a time to leave.

Quik Grill is as close as it gets
But for a quick cheap bite on the strip or some late night food...
BIG BAD WOLVES BBQ... its just a catering stand that sets up on Gameday Weekends and serves BBQ sandwiches and BBQ nachos 24 hours throughout the weekend
Hands down best drunk food on the strip during game weekends

I usually park around there for games(I married a gump yes :fml: bama games trump most lsu games). yes its a little bit of stretch to get to Denny Chimes and the quad, but I sure like the fact that once I get on the freeway I am missed the cluster frick.

9:00 or 9:30 at the latest if you want to have a few hours to tailgate
If you leave any later, traffic is gonna hold you up and you wont get much tailgating time if any

We hate at some Thai restaurant on the strip last year for the bama/florida game. gave me the worst case of the shits.

Though there are tricks that will get you through the traffic. If the interstate is backed up I would try the West Blockton to 82 route.

thats about right. I will probably leave about an hour to an hour and half earlier just to catch all the pregame atmosphere.

Other than what it's in the OP?
I remember when they used to block off the strip for UT/UA games and have a big block party. That was good times.
