Hurts immobile QBs like AJ McCarron far far far more than it does mobile QBs like Johnny Football. Everyone thinks Johnny takes a step back from losing one offensive linemen, but doesn't AJ lose more when 3 guys leave?

I for one think AJ takes a pretty big step back this year, and Johnny takes a pretty big step up.

Discuss.

No fricking way!

Look at the game film. AJ throws a GREAT deep ball and is incredibly efficient and 40% Johnny Football's big runs came after sitting in the pocket for 10 seconds and letting the secondary get 40 yds down the field, then taking off.

Also Bama churns out Olineman like no other school ever. A&M's Oline will take a huge hit, Bama's will slightly dip.

Patrick Lewis is also a huge loss. The one thing I am worried about is that Luke and Jake (who is still here) were incredible at moving there d-lineman the complete opposite direction during a play without holding to get around.

When Johnny runs the opposite direction of the play, that puts a lot of pressure on the O-lineman not to hold. Luke was the best I've ever seen because of his strength and quickness.

JFF screwed, brah. Too much game film on him now and he's never ever ever ever ever ever ever gonna get better.

Losing an olineman is just icing on the cake, don't you know?

O I forgot. Preseason everyone here was SOOO certain Alabama's o-line was in a class of its own above A&M's... I think even the gumps concede at this point that was far from the truth. Same thing will be true this year. JFF > Saban.

AJ is a much better qb than John Manziel.

John Manziel is a better runner than AJ.

The better QB is the take in this situation all day. Also more often than not for one reason or another the runner drops off (see Mike Vick...and he even passed better than John).

You're right. While Saban is preparing for Johnny, Johnny has all offseason to get worse. Perfect gump logic.

Not all of that was because we had top-notch blocking. That was actually the defensive gameplan of most teams when we played them so as to keep JFF contained and in the pocket meanwhile spying him with 1 or 2 backs.

couple things here

one, I don't know bama's oline depth, but since it's bama, I'm sure they're good. also aj will be just as good next year

two, the talk about our ol is overrated, our depth is actually pretty good and I have no concerns about it or our offense. we just have to have defense and special teams continue to improve, continue the third down domination, and improve on turnovers.

Congrats. A&M has officially passed up Arkansas as the most arrogant school to not accomplish shite. Oh sorry, your school won the Heisman. Congrats, your now in the same class as Baylor.

Disagree.

Manziel is MUCH better than any other running quarterback you can hold up as an example.

I agree LSU was a terrible mismatch for him. Took away his strengths... But AJ played way worse against yall as well and was bailed out by that screen pass.
