You're trying to explain why a town located in the northern part of the state is actually in middle Georgia.

But it’s not in northern Georgia, if anything it would be in the northern part of middle Georgia.

Have you been to Georgia? Have you looked at a map???
You keep doubling down on a bad take. Athens is not in extreme north Georgia, as in the mountains, but it is, without a doubt, no question about it, in the northern part of the state. Every time you try to defend this take you look dumber and dumber.

From the New Georgia Encyclopedia-- "Athens, home of the University of Georgia (UGA), is located along the north Oconee River in Clarke County, in the rolling Piedmont of northeast Georgia."

From Visit Athens, Georgia-- "Among the rolling red clay hills of North Georgia, a city and a university grew into a center of culture and wealth, nurturing individuals and ideas that have commanded national attention.

From WorldAtlas.com: "Athens is a consolidated city-county situated in the northeastern part of the US State of Georgia."

I googled "Is Athens in middle Georgia" and the answer I got was "Smokeyone is a moron."

The foothills and mountains are not the extreme north, they are the north. They are a solid hour to hour and a half into Georgia by car.

It’s middle Georgia. Not in the exact middle of Georgia but it is middle Georgia.

Why do y’all have such a small world view. Such a simple mindset.

Could you imagine the disappointment of a tourist expecting to visit north Georgia with beautiful little German towns, the Georgia Highlands, the scenic foothills and mountains of the Blue Ridge Mountains and instead they are in Athens getting barked at, run off the road by drunk football players, and wondering if the painted bulldog statues are supposed to pass for art in the provincial rural middle Georgia town of Athens?

Take your own advice and just Look at a map. Envision 3 areas equally divided. Athens is undoubtedly in the northern/top third of the state. Even a normal 5th grader could acknowledge that.

Typical nonanswer from the artful dodger. If you had actually attended UGA you could be a democrat politician.

...in Athens visiting one of the most charming college towns in the United States? No, they're not disappointed in that area of NORTH Georgia at all.
I provided you with reliable sources stating Athens is in north Georgia, and yet you now triple down with your misplaced belief that it is in middle Georgia.
You are helpless.

Another horrible take. It does not take an hour-and-a-half to reach the Georgia mountains if you enter from North Carolina, Tennessee, or Alabama.
Keep digging your grave.

They are in the north. IN is the key word you were missing here. Think very carefully about what it means.

You know how we know this is incorrect? Athens is closer to hiawasee than it is to Macon.

No one has run from more discussions and points than you have, so this is a hilarious whine, not to mention The point I made in the post still stands.

In your opinion it can be wrong. But it’s a factually accurate statement with supporting arguments/evidence. The best any of y’all has come up with is if you draw 2 imaginary lines that you don’t know where to draw….

It’s factually accurate to say that Athens is closer to “upper north” hiawasee than it is to “in the middle” Macon.

I offer honest answers when the other person does the same, and you havent over the years. This is why I making you earn the answer you have obsessed over, which is “when did you go to UGA”? But it’s an easy thing to earn as the hint made the answer obvious.

Always, go ahead and set a line for north and South Georgia. We will see how far off you are.

This is a direct quote from the Athens Chamber of Commerce website:

"The mission of the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce is to serve its members by developing an environment conducive to business. Since 1903 we have served our members and the community by fostering relationships and strengthening the ties that have secured Athens’ position as the hub of northeast Georgia."

Claiming Athens is anywhere except north Georgia is factually inaccurate and has no supporting argument or evidence.

Being closer to the northern border than it is to the middle proves is the fact that proves it is in the northern part of the state. This is a fact you have no argument against.

Haven’t seen a thing besides you confusing north Georgia with the north Georgia mountains.
