With 2 games between Mizzou and UT, there will be a lot on those games, especially if one can win them both.
Is it wrong for me to hope Mizzou does for us in basketball what you did for us in football -- drive the nail in a coffin of a coach that needs to go?

I really don't see why Missouri is being projected into the tournament. RPI's aside, they have a losing SEC record at this point in a fairly weak conference. Maybe they won't end up that way, but I don't think any team with a losing record in their conference should be in the NCAA tournament, any more than a team with a losing record should be eligible for a bowl game, regardless of who they played.
I have to think the SEC will get at least 4 teams into the tourney when all is said and done; having fewer than that would be unprecedented, especially now that the conference has 14 teams. Who the two other than UK and UF are is entirely up for grabs, because none of the rest have showed enough consistency for anybody to feel confident they will make it.

Mizzou 12 seed NCAA Tournament
I like your optimism, but Mizzou has a lot of work to do to earn this.

OM makes a case just on the NCAA loving the entertainment value Marshall brings.

I think Mizzou will finish 5-2 (loss at Tennessee and either at Alabama or at Georgia), and that'll put them at 22-9 (10-8). They'd probably be right on the bubble.

He had a freaking BBQ but his 'crime' was lying about it before telling the NCAA the truth. The infraction itself was minor. NCAA over-punished him BIG TIME. It was non-scandal made large because NCAA wanted to bust his balls.
Rob Lewis said the biggest issue for Cheek and Hart is the coverup. Pearl lied to investigators and then called Craft and his dad and told them to lie as well.

For me, it's Pearl or bust. A lot of fans feel the same way about this.
This is silly. There are plenty of coaches out there capable of getting the job done. Pearl is the safest bet, but if he isn't hired the next coach should most definitely get a fair shot.

I can guarantee you that unless they win the auto-bid, if they end up less than .500 in conference play they do not get in. In fact, I think if they lose more than one more regular season game and don't make it to the finals of The SEC tournament they're out. They have one good win, and that was at home against UCLA. Other than that they have zero wins against tournament teams, and if they beat Tennessee twice that number stays at one (assuming they flame out in the semis or worse in the conference tournament).

We have a guy who wants to return to us, who fans want to return, who is still living in Knoxville and is a VFL and loves everything about Tennessee, and who also happens to be the only other coach besides Mears who ever did a damn thing with Tennessee basketball. Letting that get away when the stars have indeed aligned for a return would be the biggest miss in UT history. If they don't consider him, and it will get out if they don't, it would do a lot of damage to the program.
EDIT: It's not a matter of not giving the next guy a chance so much is it would say a lot about the AD.
