Quite the fickle bunch, LSU fans. One day he's the greatest, three weeks later he's garbage. I feel bad for a coach with a fanbase that files out before halftime.

It cracks me up that Bama fans are petitioning for Les.

It might be the best narrative on this board.

They really, really, sincerely care about LSU and Les Miles, don't they? It warms the heart.

We can do better. Look at Bama, they went after Rich Rod. I don't think he would have panned out like Saban. I only ask that you have a coach that you want under contract before you fire Miles. Don't go into just assuming you can have anyone you want. Dinardo had a 10 win season. If he can do that so can most others. You continue to win and the recruits will come. Keep Orgeron on D and Wilson on O. Coach the players here and I think you are looking at a 10 win season every year, barring injuries.

Look, if you fire Les you will become a punching bag again and noone wants to see that happen to LSU. The truth is if that were to happen the most glorious meltdowns on this board would cease to exist, as you would have accepted your fate as average. You would no longer get your hopes up, so there would be no reason to melt. So LSU fans, I implore, I beg of you, keep Les.

Realistically, what does that look like for LSU?

Whoever you bring in will almost certainly not have the same numbers Les did in his first several years. He was breaking all kinds of records.

Not be on a 5 game losing streak to Bama. The teams we are heavily favored to beat them as such and not struggle, aka Eastern Michigan. To beat the other teams that are not talent wise on the same level, i.e. Arkansas.

It is not the record that is in question but more so how we win and how we lose. Also we still have offense and QB issues after all these years that don't improve. Even after several OC's.

9-12 = The Hat's record against Top 5 teams

Not that great considering most of these came from the SEC and divisional opponents. LSU is trending downward, and has been since 2011. Les deserves one more year to right the ship, but it's SEC Champs or bust with the talent we have at LSU.

Would you keep Saban, if the roles were reversed? No way in hell he would last at Bama with the same results since 2011. Imagine Saban losing to Auburn 5 in a row and then throw in losses to Moo St., Tenn, Kentucky, etc during the same span of time. Saban would be ran out of Tuscaloosa.

Well, the thing about that is that Bama has been a top 5 team pretty much every year that you've lost to us. Our worst season during that stretch was 2013 - when we were going for a 3rd consecutive national championship, and lost our shot due to a fluke Kick Six. Lots of teams have lost 5 straight to Bama.

Well we had 2 of those in the bag and let Bama win them. I think if we won those two, people aren't bitching about 0-5, then you are 2-5. Still not great but way better than 0-5.

That's a really good point. I think the nature of the two close losses created a lot of extra frustration that may not have been there otherwise. Understandable for sure.

no doubt about it, but it's a much bigger issue than just Alabama. If we're 12-1 or 11-2 every year since 2012, losing to bama each time but beating everyone else 9a few one off losses excepted) we're not having this conversation right now.

Would have been a nearly identical situation. In 2004, they finished 10-3, won the SEC East (losing to the best Auburn team of all time in the SECCG), and beat the shite out of Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl. You fire a guy like Fulmer for that? Prior to 2005, he had back to back 10-3 seasons, an 8-5 season, and an 11-2 season.

what did in UT was that Fulmer had all but stopped recruiting. Once he was gone, the cupboard was completely bare, and that only was compounded by all the coaching changes they had.

Lsu fans will only be happy if they beat the best coach in Cfb every year and win the West yearly. I mean it's LSU. Easily the best job in football. To lose a game means you are just not a good coach.

If it can't be done for financial reasons, so be it. Change isn't something that makes people comfortable, but it needs to be done sometimes. We held on to John Brady too long, Smoke Laval too long, Trent Johnson, etc. That didn't work out too well either.

If he wins 2 of those then he is 5-5 with Bama, I would take that all day.
