I am very fond of the one-shot drama that is college football.

I like it too, but it is unique. Basketball is a different animal and has to be played as such. There are approximately 345 teams trying to get the 68 spots in the tournament. That makes the regular season important, though admittedly much less dramatic than the football regular season.

I like college basketball, but I watch very little regular season college basketball these days. Too much other stuff to occupy my time. However, I don't think there is a workable formula to make the college basketball regular season as intense and meaningful as college football.

Well I would say that a debateable view that is pervasive in college athletics is that it is even feasible to crown a national champ at one grand level.

I believe FBS is too big, but everyone wants a shot at the big crown even if they aren't a big boy.

No one is content having different champions for different levels/division, everyone's trying to put an elephant through a mouse hole and the regular season drama is the #1 casualty because of bracket creeping.
