You need a little more background on all of this. Miles' QB troubles started with the dismissal of Ryan Perrilloux in May of 2008.

Perrilloux had played a bit in 2007 and actually won a few games during the NC season - he was the QB for the SECCG. RP had been the #1 recruit in the country a few years before . He was used to the system that Crowton had set up and was pretty good with it. He had a very accurate arm and he was very good running...built like a LB. But, RP had to be dismissed from the team....why, officially we really don't know to this day. But it was bad enough that Miles felt compelled to dismiss him in early May.

So you got to see the results in 2008 with 2 freshmen QB's with 2 different styles. JLee was a pure passer and JJ was a dual threat. Of the two, JLee was thought to have much more upside. Long story short, Lee had a lot of Pick 6's that year . LSU finishes 7-5. Word on the street was that Miles had to beg to keep his job and as a result developed a never again attitude when it came to QB's. He would have control over the QB's and they were going to be on a short leash....don't throw unless the receiver is CLEARLY open.

Some people believe though, that had RP stayed, there was at least another National championship in either 2008 or 2009 and if things worked out J Lee would be the QB after. Jordan Jefferson was NEVER supposed to be a QB. Then Miles whiffed on Zach Lee....actually he became the Dodgers 1st pick.

It all goes back to the 2008 season....Miles was scarred.

My question has always been, why recruit dual threat, spread QB's and not let them do anything that their good at in a pro style offense that is predicated on a running back, with no bootlegs for the mobile running QB?
