Sounds like UGA should’ve never let Chaney go

Mark Richt has lost control of Kirby Smart.

Through 48 games:
Les Miles: 40-8, 1 SEC Title, 1 National Title, 2 SEC West Titles, 0 L's to unranked teams
This is by memory so I could be off a bit. The gist is Smart is another Miles minus a national title which makes Miles significantly better. Ouch!

Opposite... we didn't get rid of enough of him. Enough of his legacy still remains. The offense wasn't a complete revamp, we specifically wanted some continuity , didn't want a "ramp up" year with brand new offense, wanted to keep rolling. Hindsight is 20/20. But there is a clear difference in how Chaney and Coley run the offense. This year is still better. Changes have been made, the plays are better. Fromm is unleashed more often.
But on the other hand, our #2 RB right now isn't exactly the equivalent of what we're used to with Chubb/Sony, Swift/Holyfield. Now it is Swift/Herrien, and Herrien is good, he's an Oklahoma Drill star, gets yards after contact, really hard runner, but he's not a game changer because he doesn't have that elite vision and 6th sense that the greats have..he's not equivalent to the #1, It's not really a "1-2 punch" .. the #1 punch (Swift) is significantly stronger than the #2 punch..and that changes how you play offense. I'm hoping our #3, Zamir White, can take that role soon, coming off both ACL tears.
Offense also lost 3 starting receivers including Mecole Hardman and Terry Godwin, replaced them with 5* freshman who are doing as good as you can ask a freshman to play, but they aren't upperclassmen, they haven't even been through a full year of college level conditioning. They'll beast out but maybe not this year.
Basically, there's alot more to unpack than just "Coley sucks, should have just kept fatass, boo hoo waaa waaa"

Kirby inherited Richt's players. Miles inherited Saban's players.
Big difference.
Big difference.

Richt in his first 4 years was a great coach...
