Petrino didn't use this as an excuse when in 2009 he signed NINE 4 or 5 star players. Since then he has signed (2010/2011) and currently has commits from NINE 4 or 5 star players. So almost 3 complete classes later and he has merely matched what he did in 2009 in terms of 4/5 star players.
that's odd, as the class rankings have gone down the win total has gone up.
i'll take on the field results, we're never going to be a consistent top 10 recruiting team and yes even if Saban or Miles was here.

You guys have 2 4-star commits right now, that's not going to cut it.
We have 6 4* commits... and our biggest OV date is coming up.
ETA: Arkansas commits. (247)

should help our ranking, since that's so important for Petrino's stature as a head coach

Which service? Scout? People only use scout to make themselves feel better about their recruiting class. Arkansas will have to recruit better to compete for an SEC title, period.

I'll definitely give him Auburn didn't have a NC caliber defense, but Arkansas also won't have an offense with Cam Newton or anyone near his caliber in it.
Cam was a freak, and I doubt the SEC will see another QB who can carry a team like he did.

and I'm sure you agreed with any Hog fan that predicted 11 wins and a top 5 finish in the preseason huh?
I said 9 regular season wins, doesn't look like i was far off

Our "best" defensive player (The only 5*) was a huge bust that doesn't know how to cover or tackle.
The majority of your 4/5* defensive recruits have gotten on the field and gotten on the field early. Tevin Mitchel got on the field and started eventually as a true freshman. Byran Jones plays/played a ton and/or starts. Crim and Leon were both starters. D.D. Jones a starter.
Don't see why 1 guy who's been a bust goes against the majority. Plus, it's no secret teams like LSU and Alabama have loaded up on 4/5* talent on defense. You think these defenses would be as dominant if we recruited a majority of 3* there?

I am going to give 24/7 a few years to see how their rankings pan out before declaring them anything at the present.

honestly with Chavis and Saban/Smart, yes I do.
same with Petrino on offense, he can take 3* talent and make them into 4/5* players.
I'm of the opinion that player developing and recruiting 'system' players is as important as getting 'stars' guys.

So I take it most everyone on the field this year and last year was recruited in 2010 and 2011? That's the only way your comment holds any weight.

or you could look at it as Petrino's win totals have gone up the longer guys are in his system.

You have 2 on rivals, which is what the majority of people use and all the numbers I quoted for the past as well to keep it consistent. Let's not play the "let's use what service looks best for me" game. 247 is a nice up and coming site, but they are definitely not there yet as they dont have several team sites up yet. They'll be the best in a couple years IMO, but as I said, they need to grow a bit more before getting there.

Actually his argument was saying the longer Petrino developes players the better they get...
