I really don't get the comparison to Spurrier at all. Guy threw barbs but he also put most of the blame on himself when things went wrong.
The SEC liked him because he was funny and backed it up with championships. Even if he was making fun of your team it was funny and then he'd beat you.
Very different personalities.

He was smug way before the playoff system was born. Always respected his dad but looks like the apple fell a helluva long way from the tree.
