And? Laws aren’t always good/just.

Labeling a taser as a deadly weapon is a good law and its a travesty the DA pressed charges against both officers. It will only lead to more rioting once they "get off" because people dont understand the laws. Very irresponsible by that DA.

Completely agree.

He doesn't understand that, it's useless talking to someone this emotional. Either you agree with everything he says or you are an inbred Hitler.

What's sad is that the BLM protests could have actually lead to some great legal reform in the country and instead we got retards foaming about flags.

How? Mace is probably more deadly and dangerous than a stun gun.

Eh, getting charged is more than a lot of them get.

You're in favor of people being wrongfully charged?

These guys lives are changed forever, much like the Ferguson cop.

He currently lives in a house that isnt in his name and can't get a job anywhere to provide for his family.

I wouldn’t say it’s wrongfully charged. You claim that stun guns are considered “deadly weapons” in Georgia, but I wonder what the text of that law actually says because phrases like “deadly weapons” don’t always mean the same thing from statute to statute. My guess is that use of them is taken more seriously.

Also, if the police shot “in self defense”, he would have done so prior to the victim fleeing. Even if the victim were fleeing with a firearm, it’s not a clear cut case. It’s likely the theft of the stun gun was to prevent being hit with it. Fleeing from the police isn’t right or legal, but it’s not punishable by death. Watching the video, it’s very hard to see the victim as a significant threat. He tried to resist arrest, but that’s really about it. If cops can’t make arrests without killing someone, they’re in the wrong field.

Ultimately, the dude shouldn’t have shot him. He isn’t innocent in general - just probably innocent of murder - as he likely shot in the heat of the moment. That’s still manslaughter for reckless use of a firearm. He still needs to be made an example of and be held responsible.

A few weeks ago, Paul Howard, the Fulton County district attorney whose office will try Rolfe, the officer accused, acknowledged in a separate matter that, according to Georgia law, “a taser is considered ... a deadly weapon.” That means, generally speaking, cops can use deadly force in countering their hostile use.

I mean he literally turned around and fired the taser at the cop.

Why are you against police protecting themselves?

One of the weirdest things about joining the sec. had not been exposed to how hard people are holding on to pre-civil war days.

Because they too often use that as an excuse for bullying and murder?

Police are given authority to restrict our freedoms and rights. It is incumbent on them to not abuse that power, and we as citizens should question them and ensure they are held accountable.

They are the last people who should be given the benefit of the doubt as we grant them an insane amount of power.
