The fan base and the AD expect Kentucky to be good at basketball but the fan base and I suspect the AD desperately want us to be a football school. Most Kentucky fans were upset with Cal’s comments because we want to believe we are becoming relevant in football. I think the AD knew that and probably hoped it was true.

What is relevant? Kentucky just doesn't put me in mind of an east team that can win the division. They never seem to have that special something to get them over the top. Mark Stoops is so conservative and his style basically means the cats have to be the better talent. That's hard to imagine.

Your observations are probably true. We are at a major disadvantage when it comes to recruiting for a lot of reasons. I will say this though, I believe we punch above our weight class and that gives us hope.

Once upon a time, Kentucky was into the new age offenses. I'm just saying it's hard to punch your way through the SEC without a gimmick or a ton of talent.

Lately, Arkansas seems to be seeded in the right place to catch favorable matchups. This time it was less about matchups but the 1 seed’s HC having a serious medical issue. They’re clearly a good squad but it always helps to get a little lucky too.
