Did you guys have him 2 years or 3?
Being there when the ship is sinking is, I'd imagine, a lot different then getting to be there from the start. Especially since Chavis is a DC lifer.

He was in his 3rd year.
I still think Chavis is one of the best defensive minds in College football. Had he stayed at LSU, I can bet you Aggies would be estatic if we got him with Fisher.

Yea, he runs a 4-3 scheme with multiple alignments. We saw marked improvement in our LB play. He will recruit and find his LBs. Tyrell Dodson from Tenn was a stud this year..
3rd and Chavis is a real thing though. But when you put it in context of what we were facing, he relies on lock down corners which we did not have (LSU does).
I’ll say this, he’s a great motivator and the players all loved him. They would run through a brick wall for Chavis.

It’s going to be much tougher for Chavis to get the personnel he wants. For one he doesn’t recruit that much anyway and he doesn’t have Houston and Texas recruits to lean on. Will be interesting to see how he does in that aspect
