We've offered scholarships to dozens of individuals. Do you think we're recruiting them all the same, or would you venture to say that we have "prioritized" the list? Next question, do you think Jawara was a priority for Saban?
e all know that the stars that players receive don't solidify them as a great player or poor player...that will be determined on the field.
So, I for one don't give a rat's rib whether or not Saban recruited him heavily, that doesn't mean that he wont be a great linebacker. It is no secret Saban has recruited very well. I am happy for the pick up, if we definitely get him, and I believe he will be a solid linebacker...so....

no matter what the Bamers say, They wanted him.
James Judas Willis was the main reason they wanted him. White has been an Auburn lock even though he has offers from almost all the SEC schools.

Simple question, if bama didnt want him or dont need him, why was he offered a scholly?
If he was offered its evident that Bama did have some kind of interest in him. But that does not mean he was a priority recruit.

it goes both ways, When Saban gets a recruit, they rub it in Auburn fan's faces even if Auburn was not after him all that much. In this case, Auburn got a player that both schools wanted and he is a top 10 in state player.
So if you are keeping score, that is 2 points for the Tiger Prowl and Big Cat Weekend where Auburn signed someone that Saban wanted. Also, Saban lost out on Maclin to LSU and Patton to Florida and Malone is on the verge of decommiting and leaning towards Ole Miss.

I'll take our two over your two any day of the week.
Also, on Malone:
quote:
"I am still solid to Bama and they are my top school. I had planned all along to take some visits and Ole Miss was one of those schools," Malone said. "They have great staff and school, but I am still committed to Bama."

Remind me, how many top prospects has AU signed since Saban got here? Chizik is doing a good job so far in recruiting but fortunately for him, most of the players coming from Alabama this year, grew up AU fans.
BTW, Congrats on the pick up!

so who were his finalists? Was it only Bama and Auburn?

Yeah Malone is going to decommitt from his dream school. His opportunity here is through the roof, not to mention the possible NC within 3 years. Ole Miss? After this year, where will they be?

why do Bamers say it is because he is a lifelong Auburn fan.
This also goes both ways, Most of Bama's recruits are lifelong Bama fans. You guys bragged about Milliner and Sanders and they are both Bama Fans till death.

I agree with you there. Most of the recruits are lifelong Bama fans (except this year). My question is simple though: What has AU done in recruiting or on the field since Saban got here? Y'all have been completely shut out and it's not just Alabama recruits. Y'all use to do great in GA but that changed from day 1. Like I said, Chizik is doing a good job in getting AU back on the map, recruiting wise but until he can prove himself on the field, I'm not impressed.

The LSU coaches certainly racked up the highway miles last week as they toured the state of Alabama visiting prospects. Secondary coach Ron Cooper ended his run through Alabama in Troy to visit Jawara White.
“I have 10 offers now, from Arkansas, Kentucky, Auburn, Alabama, UAB, Florida State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Troy, and most recently LSU,” he said. “I’m also getting stuff from Oregon and Florida.
He also says LSU offered...
Once White does turn his attention back to recruiting, one of the schools he is looking to learn more about is LSU after receiving his verbal offer from the Tigers last week.
“Coach Cooper came by my school last Friday,” White explained. “He told my coach that they were offering me, and that I should expect the letter in the mail this week. He said they are recruiting me as a weakside linebacker, which is basically where I play now when I play linebacker.”
