How bad will your butthurt be when we whoop that arse 3 of the last 5 years this season?

Yea, and Joe Paterno said he didn't want to leave the game to "the Jackie Sherrills of the world" while he was there I believe. Burn in hell, Joe.

Agree that Pitt was his best stop but A&M and State (through 2000) were not bad either.
I think he had a five game winning streak against Texas that A&M fans still enjoy to this day. He also won 3 SWC Championships as well.
Poor ole Joe Paterno, Sherrill upset his hegemony in PA and the NE and he resented it. Later I think they became friends though so seemingly no hard feelings lingered.

When Sherrill's your program's winningest head coach you know you got problems
in fairness though, dude was a very successful HC for Pitt and A&M and coached the 1980 Pitt team arguably one of the best teams not to win a natty ever

Allyn McKeen is really the all time winning coach at State
1939-48....65-19 w/1941 SEC Championship. So by winning % , he is easily the best.
You have to look at Sherrill’s record in context. From 1983-1990 , we had one winning season and while Rockey Felker left the cupboard full for him in 1991, he did a tremendous job from 1991 until 9-11-2001 and then after that date the wheels fell off.
His record up until then was 68-48 with a west div Championship in 1998. After Nine Eleven, his record was 7-27 through the end of 2003 and the program got away from him.
Thus he has 75 wins which is the most of any coach in our history. Also 75 losses.
