Schematically, I think Muschamp is a defensive savant. However, I think his defenses can get to complex, especially on the back end. Quite often I think our guys often looked like deer in the headlights trying to remember all the nuisances of a Muschamp defense. As a result, they often ended up like waffle house toast. Burnt more often than not...

We had that problem with one of out DCs. I want to say Grantham? It was not unusual to see several defensive players looking over at the sidelines with their palms up asking where they should line up. It was pretty bad.

Pretty sure he was at Auburn.
He said “in the last 10 years”, so I assume he was referring to his lone season under Gustav in ‘15 before he got the Cocks HC gig.

Our stats were pretty mediocre that year, but they were a noticeable improvement over our pisspoor showing the previous season - Boom shaved 3 points per game and a half yard per play vs P5 opponents from ‘14, despite working alongside one of the most horribly inept offenses imaginable given the talent available.

I think Boom is one of those guys who is clearly better suited as a coordinator than an HC. I believe UTx will discover Sark is the same way.

Will Muschamp should never get another HC job ever.

Quite possibly. The thing is is it seems once they get a taste for HC they lose their ability to be a good coordinator. You look at many of them, and they seem to regress badly when they go back to being coordinators.

Chad Morris, for one example.
Bo Pellini for another.

I'm sure there are a lot of others but for some reason they aren't coming to my mind.
