That's the current rules. To buy a player out of a contract, the rev share they were owed by the original schools gets bought out by the buying school.
So if OM guaranteed Prince $500k and LSU wants to also pay him $500k - LSU would be on the hook for $1 mil rev share (half to OM, half to the player).
It's how the current rules are set up.

It is because you have zero idea who will be on the team from year to year. It is because players have become privileged little brats. These kids don’t care about anything other than NIL.

From what I heard the buyout is about 500K. LSU said we got that. Contract in the 1 million range. Got that too. His contract from LSU doesn't have to mirror what ole miss is right. ALL the money could be NIL?
