MSU shares Mississippi with Ole Miss and Southern Miss. That means you have to battle with Ole Miss for every major in state recruit while Southern Miss poaches second tier players that round out a team. Along with, I might add, having to fend off your high profile neighbors (Bama and LSU) when they come fishing in your waters. A great coach at MSU or Ole Miss can certainly build a championship team. It won't be easy, but it can be done. Y'all are just working with some real disadvantages though.

So whats the problem at Arkansas? Only school in the state, statewide support...no better or worse than 2 schools in the Sipp with built in disadvantages.
ETA: I didn't mean to sound condescending. I apologize if it came off that way, we have too much crap talk on the rant as it is. I am just curious as to why Arkansas has struggled for a while now. If Ole Miss or MSU had the Sipp all to themselves, I have no doubt that either team would be in the upper echelon of the SEC perenially

Oh no, I understand. The truth is while we are the only game in town for the state of Arkansas (Arkansas State does tend to poach quite a few very good second tier players across all sports) we are hampered by having a fairly small population and, the real cause for concern, athletics in the SE portion of the state and in Little Rock (our biggest city) have really slipped in the last few decades.

When Little Rock was churning out solid athletic talent on a regular basis we were in much better shape. If it returns to producing a good number of Division 1 talent Arkansas should be quite a bit more dangerous.

SE Arkansas is dying on the vine and Eastern Arkansas as a whole isn't doing well. Plus for recruits living along the Mississippi river its really tempting to play for Memphis or one of the Mississippi schools. It is about 80 miles from Helena, AR to Oxford for example. Its 300 miles from there to Fayetteville. That is a 3 hour round trip vs an 11 hour round trip.

The other problem is that, like Mississippi, we are a small population state in the SEC. Y'all get around that by having a great Jr. College sports system and fishing in the Memphis area for recruits. We used to get around it by poaching from Texas. It is why we are putting such an emphasis on playing games in Texas and recruiting Texas.

The same to you, though I wish we'd gotten someone else. Well, with our teams have been playing we'd have likely run into the Rebs sooner or later.

Me too. the other 4 SEC teams get what amounts to midweek games for the supers, compared to the 30 game SEC grind they went thru. Ole Miss just played 6 games in Hoover that were tougher than any regional and will be as difficult as anything we face in Omaha...and our reward? another friggin SEC road weekend in Fayetteville. ~sigh~

Foosball is the devil in Arkansas. Their HS programs suck so they have to recruit second rate athletes from Memphis, all the players OM and State reject in MS. The LSU rejects in Louisiana after the rest of the SEC raids that state and and the East texas rejects that don't go to one of their Universities.

Pathetic to recognize that the team that has shown that it is the best in the country all season is on the same side of the bracket as Mississippi State?

My daughter went to Ole Miss...I think I know the difference between Oxford and Starksville. If it makes you feel any better, Ole Miss has a terrific baseball facility as well. I’ll be rooting for y’all to win the CWS.

You might want to start off with learning how to spell it correctly before giving an opinion and insisting on that opinion having any authority, taterhead.

(And Rebsontherise is one of the few posters on the rant that has substance and character.)

And lol @ the dickriding faggie with vandy. Go dance for the boys who have daddy's money little man.

You sleeping giant, you. Sad.
