Sure he did. All he had to do was show some life against USF.

Instead he played poorly. 55% completion percentage in that game. 123 passer rating. The only game Milroe had a worse rating than that in was against Michigan... and Michigan was a significant amount better than USF. Milroe did better against Texas passing the ball than Simpson did against USF (140 rating compared to 123). And Texas was a good opponent too and Milroe got benched for that performance.

One game is not a fair shot when most the team wants Milroe on the field and isn't motivated to see Simpson do well. Reverse your scenario and tell me you would think Milroe got a fair chance with one game. Simpson had better A-day stats so I guess he automatically wins the starting job based on your logic.....It doesn't matter now anyway. Last year is last year. We have a new coach with a new offense. Hope Deboer plays the best ball distributor and not the one trying to win the most socially popular.
