SC thinks of Georgia as a rival but I don't think it's so on the Georgia side. When Spurrier was there, it likely was to some extent. But when you're UGA and your record is 54-19-2 against SC, I doubt you think of them at all. Just saying.

I have noticed lots of smack talk between the two schools. Are they rivals or is it because it is the first conference game for both teams?

frick no, they so desperately wanted UGA as a rival during the Spurrier years.
People in Georgia just don't view them as a hated program. They want an SEC rival badly and nobody cares about that for them.
