People think we should be ranked because of Malzahn and Sumlin in their 1st years at A&M and Auburn. Bielema didn't walk into a situation that has him recruiting for his type of play for the past several years like they did. Our best players are Freshman and it's not a coincidence. Sumlin has also had the fortune of inheriting Case Keenum and Johnny Football.

We have the worst back seven in the SEC and nobody could even compete with us for the worst because of Petrino's inability to recruit defense and last 2 offensive classes were just as bad. Our WR's can't catch or get open and they're slow and our QB isn't very good, maybe because of the shoulder, but still.

We're also the 1st team to play 5 straight ranked teams in over a decade.

When Gus first got to Auburn (with Tuberville's recruits, none of his own), Auburn went from 105th ranked offense to 16th in one season

Some coaches are just great offensive minds

True.

Iowa is already used to way overpaying their head coaches for the return they get on that investment.

Bielema would be a great fit.

I never said he wasn't, I know the guy and know how good he is. But don't you think recruiting for the HUNH since 2009 hasn't helped you guys this year?

it has

I'm just saying in a similar situation aka when each coach got to their school with none of their own players, Gus made incredible improvements with Chris Todd as his QB

ETA so I don't buy the excuse of Bert having none of his players for the reason their offense sucks so bad

Deja Vu to Petrino's first year at Arkansas.

Every single opposing fan based claimed he was in over his head and couldn't handle the SEC.

Flagshippers will be a bitch to deal with in 3 years.

he could coach up shitty talent though

Examples? Pretty much all of his best players were 4 stars that he got lucky with in his first class because most were from Arkansas. The only one who wasn't highly recruited that I can think if is Chris Gragg. Behind those guys he left nothing.
