Georgia got a pretty good one hiring Kirby with 0 HC experience.
HC experience is great, but it isn’t required. You can have success as an elite coordinator hire. There are examples all over the country.

Ou is not leaving. They don’t wanna take a pay cut. Losing and making a lot of money is a higher priority than winning for less money.

Venables is not fit for a headcoaching job....he was good as a DC but some folks just ain't fit to take complete control..
Didn't he fire one of his Coordinators last year...pretty much using that guy as a scapegoat to keep his head coaching gig alive for a while longer?

The big challenge for head coaches with a defensive background is having a consistently good offense, or just having a good offense at all in some cases. The good ones figure it out and the bad ones get fired and end up as DCs again
