what's been going on for years is the up yours attitude many current and former members of the BOT have shown towards UAB and UAB athletics.

I read the study. It's garbage. This isn't about saving money UAB athletics will continue to be subsidized to the tune of 20 mil a year. This is about the Alabama BOT killing something that people care about. They want to end UAB undergrad.

Sure..... Just like no one cared about FAU amirite? The point is simple: they simply shut the program down instead of trying to keep it. If money was really the problem, then why didn't they ask boosters for money?
Is it the UABOT's job to solicite donations for UAB athletics? It is their responsibility to contact UAB alumni and ask for contributions? What was the talk of the UAB Foundation about?

Let Bham take over the UAB football program if it's so important.

it's not their decision. That would be up to the BoT at UA. Tell me how you think that would go down

I don't know if they want to close the school altogether, but they certainly want to shut down their entire athletic department

Then get off your wallet and donate $3 to 4m a year and save the program. Either donate or shut up. Posting on Twitter and FaceBook is just a cheap way of getting attention.

UAB had 10 players go to the NFL. Where are they when it comes to saving the program?

And let's throw in all those rich doctors who got their MD's at UAB while we're at it.

Then we can add all those corporations in Birmingham who cared.

UAB's budget had about $2,000,000 in donations, so someone has been doing some asking over the years.

UAB started a football donors program at the beginning of this year, so it didn't have time to start bringing in huge amounts. A donor/alumni 2 weeks ago said he would give $10 million and the powers that be turned it down. This was not a decision made this year. This was planned years ago and no amount of money raised or donated since this all started was going to change it. They could have been pledged $30 and it wouldn't have mattered. They would just brush it under the table like it didn't happen. Coach Clark was hired with the intention of running the program into the ground and in 3-4 years cancel it. But little did they know he was a damn good coach and could turn it around. The BOT saw this and panicked so they pulled the plug now instead of waiting 3 years when they could be a 9+ win football team.
