I just now saw that he was a coordinator for Detroit, I must've ignored where you posted it earlier. The first two articles I read only talked about minor assistant jobs. I don't think the University has any bias towards a black coach because Anthony Grant and Wendall Hudson are both head coaches at our university. Obviously you think there is a bias. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Are you mentally challenged? He was never a coordinator for Green Bay. He was a coordinator for Detroit.

I told you that earlier in the thread. What is wrong with you?

When it comes to sports other than football that might be the case. Football is the cash cow at Bama.

You're just in denial. Besides, Croom was already coaching at Bama when Shula was playing there. Croom had just been coaching longer. If Croom had been white, he'd have gotten that job over Shula

I think you're letting hate from Alabama blind you but okay. I to you oh wise one. I guess I ignored where you posted about Detroit because I truly didn't give a shite. I was in it for a good argument yet you have to ridicule in order to try and get your point across

Again, you're in denial. Nobody wants to admit to racial bias or denying someone employment because they are black, but it happens and Alabama's denial of hiring Croom was very public.

I got my point across. I educated you. You are better off for letting me school you.

On a scale of mentally challenged, how challenged would you say I am?

I really hate to bump this thread, but there are some facts that both of you either don't know or you are just not stating. Alabama had TWO choices for there HC job, Croom & Shula. Both were career assistants with not so great (poor actually) stints as OCs in the NFL. Shula was thought to be the cool hire; young, good looking (thought to translate to recruiting sucess) and it would sit well with the fan base as most of them would remember his playing time at the Capstone. Croom on the other hand was a disciple of the most iconic college football coach EVER, a strong disiplinarian, and was well liked by the fan base as well. Moore actually WANTED Croom with the condition that he keep the current staff in place for the upcoming season. There were several reasons for that, but the biggest being to provide continuity to the players and ease the transition between coaching staffs and schemes. Croom balked at the idea and basically told Moore that he would bring the staff he wanted with him or he wasn't going to take the job (which at this point hadn't even been offered). Moore tried to negotiate this out with Croom, explaining that it was May, the season was less than four months away and that it would be hard to assemble a staff on such short notice. Croom wouldn't budge. That left us with Shula as the ONLY option to be the head coach at ALABAMA. THE COLOR OF SYLVESTER CROOM'S SKIN HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM NOT GETTING THE JOB!!! Croom gave up his dream job over not getting to do things his way, right away, instead of being patient, letting the storm blow over and then going about assembling his own staff. Shula's undoing was remaining loyal to those assistants far too long.

Difference is Saban brings in big-time talent, while Dooley is replacing them with 3-stars.

He won't last 4 years at Tennessee.

Wasn't Marcel Dareus (the one in your sig pic) a 3 star....?
