Most are insurance reps, small business owners, HS football coaches, teachers, etc.

But keep trying

And, fwiw, I don't thump my chest over Terry College

I. TOTALLY. BELIEVE. YOU.

ETA: How many of your football players have to pass an intro to calculus course? Or is it just Remedial Drawing a Triangle 101?

shite, how many of your students in general do?

I mean do I really need to name names? JT Wall is the HC of John Milledge football team, Kentrell Curry is coaching HS football too, David Greene works in insurance, Eric Zeier, Herschel, and Jasper Sanks are all small business owners. Do I really need to go further?

The football players have to take the same Core classes as everyone else, and if you've been keeping up, UGA is tied for 2nd in conference with UF behind Vandy in terms of academics.

Um, only those who are planning on majoring in Genetics, Biochemistry, pre-Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, pre-med, Chemistry, Math, etc.

Are Tech students somehow superior just because they take an Intro to Calc class?

Hmmmm... you give me 5 names and think you've done your diligence?

There is no point in naming names, for either of us.

Our football players have higher entrance requirements than yours (YES), have to take tougher classes than yours (YES) and a vast majority of them major in our "easy" major, which ranks higher than your esteemed Terry College of Business (whether you personally give a shite about Terry college doesn't weigh very heavily).

I think it is very safe to say that our players are more employable as a result. Until you provide some counter-examples that would apply to your entire former-football player student body, such as I have, then you have failed.

This is all to ignore the fact that you still haven't divulged what your Einstein football players major in.

If you hadn't noticed, this is not about the conference. It's GT/UGA

Which is why I didn't go further... I wasn't trying to prove anything more than I do have some basis to my claims. Whether you believe me or not is up to you, but I don't think either of us want to waste the time trying to be convinced of something so inconsequential

Funny thing... Unlike Tech, UGA football players don't all major in the same damn, lowest-common denominator major that UGA offers. Some major in easier majors like Kinesiology and Sociology, of course, but some (Kris Durham, for one example) major in History, Murray is majoring in Psychology, a few are in Communicative Disorders (Sanders Commings), Ray Drew and Jarvis Jones are pre-Jounralism, many are pre-business, and some (Ty Frix, par example) major in harder majors like Genetics and Biochemistry (Frix has a 3.8 in Biomedical Engineering)

Hilarious that you would make my point for me.

GT doesn't offer the full spectrum of garbage majors that your school does. "Our lowest common denominator" major that you refer to is business, which is not a bad degree at all to have.

The fact that some players that don't want to major in Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear and Radiological Engineering, Physics, Architecture, and Biomedical Engineering opt to major in business is something to be proud of.

Your kinesiology and exercise science majors are not such a thing.

But right, I'm sure our players are less employable than yours.

Again, you miss the point. We're not discussing whether or not there are go-getter individuals in the program, but whether the football body as a whole is better prepared. If you want to spark up the academic debate again, please do it correctly. Showing specific, cherry-picked examples does not help to defend your claim that our football players are dumber than yours.

Because teaching, athletic training, physical therapy, and social work are just terrible professions to seek out. That trademark Tech arrogance is showing a little Swoop

No it's not, and half of our team consists of pre-business majors. But apparently that's a bad thing because Terry ranks lower than Tech's equivalent according to some poll conducted by Forbes or Princeton Review or some shite

Not really. What other choice do they have? They cant cope with the workload of those more difficult majors so they resign to take the easiest thing available. At least you'll find our players mixed in with the general student population all across campus

No, you're missing my point which is that rather than a team full of management majors, we have a team of a wide array of majors, some easier than others but all respectable

Just wanted to point out that I never said anything about the employability of Tech players relative to UGA players. If anything, the gif I posted insinuated that Tech grads work, but just have boring jobs. The joke I made after was just to throw a stab back at you, didn't even mean much by it

This is the point where you would have us all believe that our undrafted football players are more unemployable than your undrafted football players. If you didn't mean that, it was a very fragile glass house to throw stones from. Keep this in mind as you read what I'm writing.

quote:

I'm not saying they're bad things to go into. I am not saying they aren't honest livings. But they are not as employable as someone with a Bachelor of Science in Management. There is no such thing as an easy major at Tech, just one that is easier than Mechanical Engineering.

quote:

No it's not, and half of our team consists of pre-business majors.

Is that your BBA Business Administration or not?

quote:

Not really. What other choice do they have? They cant cope with the workload of those more difficult majors so they resign to take the easiest thing available.

Uhh... to not come to Tech? To choose a different school of less academic resistance to play football at? Our reputation of difficult academics precedes us in recruiting. Players that come to Tech know they'll at least have to work hard enough to earn a Bachelor of Science in Management.

Your fanbase will make fun of our recruiting and how football players don't want to go to a nerd school, and then you make it sound like the ones that do are slackers anyways.

quote:

At least you'll find our players mixed in with the general student population all across campus

Because you have more majors whose rigor (or relative lack-thereof) allow them to play football.

You can be proud of all of this, having them in a variety of majors and all that, if you want to give them credit for it. But you haven't come close to backing up your jab at our business major football players that they are unemployable dumbasses.

====================

quote:

Just wanted to point out that I never said anything about the employability of Tech players relative to UGA players.

so why would you walk up to that cliff? Calling our football players dumb is not in your fanbase's interest.

ETA: I am all for stopping the academic debate here if you'd like, because I know it gets boring.

I hate the inbred banjo-playing Ugaggers, too, so hate away Buford or Bubba or whatever your name is.

I'm pretty sure the name "buford" or "bubba' is more prevalent in the state of Texas than elsewhere.
