While I fundamentally agree with this...

A lot of why they are doing what they are doing is to create more interest in the regular season among the fans of teams that might be able to slip into the bottom half of the playoff.

With twelve teams there are going to be about 20 teams competing into November for a spot in the playoff instead of the usual six or seven we have now.

For many teams, just getting to the playoff will be the goal.

To me what will be interesting is whether first round losers will still play in a bowl game.

What does how big they are have to do with anything. They don’t have a single school capable of winning a NC in this era. They can’t recruit to the level necessary to do it. They probably will, but they don’t deserve one. It’s a joke to pretend like they are a major football conference
