Just curious on how you guys think 1st year Mississippi State HC Dan Mullen has done up to this point.

Many people on here thought that State was going to be Gawd aweful and the laughing stock of the SEC and said that our offense was unfixable and we had NO athletes on our team NO QB and a pourous defense. Many of you said there was no way we would even win a single SEC game.

Well through 9 games we are 4-5 and are 2-3 in the SEC. Of our 5 losses 4 of them have to come to teams currently in the top 15 including #1 Florida. Our rushing offense is 10th in the nation and our total offense is up from 12th in the SEC over the past 3 years to 5th this season.

I think that Dan Mullen has done a Hell of a job, only problem is, if we continue to improve and he takes us to a bowl game we are going to have a hard time keeping him here in Starkville.

Let me hear your thoughts.

I cant pretend to be familiar with Mississippi State from previous years, outside of win/loss record. But given that he is working with sly's players (not recruited for the spread) I think MSU looks great this year. I think Mullen is going to do a real good job at MSU. I think your biggest challenge will be keeping him long-term.

I totally Agree. I think that if we go 7-5 next year and go bowling there may be some suitors courting Dan.

A whole lot. I know there are some youngsters on the field but what he has done with the offense is amazing. With the struggles on offense down in Florida, it begs the question if Dan the man is not sorely missed in Gator land.

Dan Mullen has done a pretty fine job so far this year.
I don't know how good he is yet, but he's certainly better than croom.

I've always has respect for Miss State and said that they needed a coach (not Croom) to get them over the hump. Give it a year or two. They'll be contending with Mullen at the helm.

State has always had a decent defense if not great defense. Dan was the perfect coach for us. We were almost last in all of college football on offense last year. He's made all of this offensive progress with one of the worst div 1 quarterbacks ever. Not only that, the team plays smarter and is more focused. I knew when we hired croom it was gonna be a long five years or so. When we hired Dan the man I was really excited. We are a couple plays from being bowl eligible now. Also, I think him leaving has contributed to the drop we've seen in Florida's offense. Dan is doing great.
